Real Wedding | Mel & Shane | Beaumaris

By Real Wedding No Comments

Mel and Shane first met at a club in Sorrento whilst out with their respective friends. According to his best man, Shane was instantly attracted to Mel and went about the process of wooing her the only way he knew how. Mel fell for Shane’s charms that night and long story short subsequently had 2 children together and were for all intents and purposes a committed couple. The only thing that was missing was the ring. So it was with great excitement that Shane asked Mel to marry him and finally put a ring on it.

Both Mel and Shane wanted to have a beach side wedding, and when they saw The Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron that was situated right on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay. They knew they had found their wedding venue. The ceremony would be perfect overlooking the water, however, The gods on that day decided to bless Mel and Shanes wedding day with rain. It’s not often that it rains all day in Melbourne but today was one of those days. And so everything had to be moved inside. The crew setting up did an amazing job making the venue look quite magical for the ceremony with the big LOVE letters displayed as a backdrop to the whole procession.

It was after the ceremony that we had a small break in the weather and was able for a small time to go out and get some great shots of Mel and Shane even if their was a light shower. It shows that even if it does rain on your wedding day that it can still be special and you can capture some absolutely gorgeous moments.

Real Wedding | Breanna & Chris | Sandhurst Club

By Real Wedding No Comments

When Breanna and Chris decided to get married they wanted a simple wedding in a picturesque setting with lots of fun and dancing afterwards. It was when they saw Sandhurst Club that they knew they had found the perfect place to get married.  “We knew we wanted to get married at a golf club because Chris loves golf”. Having gone to quite a few friends and families weddings before they knew most of the vendors that they wanted for their big day. They had seen Andrew from Passion8 Photography work his magic once before as well as DJ Peter D, of whom both have come to know the family quite well.

However, when it came to capturing their wedding on video they hadn’t seen any that they really liked until they saw Jiva Workshop’s Facebook Page where they saw an assortment of video’s that told the story of the couples day the way that they would want it. Chris and Breanna had each written special vows to each other and the speeches were extra special as though everyone was nervous about speaking, it was heartfelt and Chris and Breanna both wanted those special moments captured.

The day was certainly special, and after the speeches and first wedding dance. It was time for everyone to get up and dance. And so with a spin of the DJ table everyone hit the floor and began to boogie to the popular songs they knew and loved. Thank You Breanna and Chris for having us capture your day. We had a great time producing the video for you.

Real Wedding | Tegan & Shaun | Mount Martha

By Real Wedding No Comments

Tegan and Shaun first met at Sofia’s Italian Restaurant in Frankston. Although they didn’t get together till much later, they worked together side by side. It wasn’t till after they had both left “Sofia’s” that they ended up hooking up and as they say the rest was history.

When we first met these two love birds and their family (they have two children), it was obvious just how much they loved each other and wanted more than anything to share their love for each other with the world.

They had decided on having the ceremony at “The Mornington Rose Garden” which is pretty much near the centre of Mornington with rows upon rows of carefully manicured roses surrounding a Gazebo in the middle and a lake towards the background that is home to an assortment of ducks and swans.

Getting ready, they decided that it would be easier to do their prep at the same hotel in Mornington at “The Tanti” Hotel. This made it possible to do something which is a little rare where they can have one last moment together before saying their vows to each other without ruining the day by seeing each other fully in person – (see video & photo’s below)

Then finally came time to say “I Do” at the rose garden. Shaun looked incredibly proud and ecstatic at seeing his children make their way to the front of the aisle and when he saw Tegan in her dress – well his eyes absolutely lit up. Seeing her in her dress might have been the reason why he found it difficult to get some of the words right when saying his vows to Tegan, which in itself made for a funny cute moment for the two.

After the ceremony, we went down to the lake and park with all the ducks and swans on display to take some snaps of the newly married couple. It was quite convenient having such a picturesque park nearby to take some great photo’s and video of the two.

Later it was off to The Dava Hotel in Mount Martha. The cocktail reception was held on the rooftop deck which overlooked the stunning Port Phillip Bay, which enabled some great photo’s and scenery as the we were all witness to a fantastic sunset. As night fell and people began to dance to Live Duo that were performing well known acoustic hits. Jaime, Tegan’s sister gave a surprise performance of a song that was specifically for Tegan and Shaun.

It was a magnificent night for a truly fantastic couple, well done and we wish you all the happiness in the world.

Real Wedding | Rachel & Simon | Merricks

By Real Wedding No Comments

Rachel and Simon really wanted a cozy Mornington Peninsula wedding where they spend most of their free time from their professional lives with friends and family. Having family at a Balnarring farm, they loved spending time together in the cozy wooded scapes near the beach of Western Port Bay.

Rachel was set on using local suppliers and venues for her special day and loved the feel that “The Merricks General Store” had and so they both knew that that was where they would have their reception. However, Rachel really wanted a grand Church ceremony and was lucky enough to be able to book a nearby church at Cerberus St Marks Chapel. Other locals suppliers included Jiva Workshop for video as well as the talented Tanya Fry for photography.

Starting at their picturesque family farm in Balnarring, where she was getting ready. Rachel had chosen a magnificent Vera Wang dress that really stunned.

Whilst Simon had chosen to get ready at a nearby lodge. Rachel prepared to make her entrance at the magnificent church at Cerberus. Rachel was preceded by her nieces and nephews before the doors flew open to reveal Rachel looking absolutely stunning.

It was a formal ceremony and afterwards we went on location to Rachel’s family farm and surrounds to get images of the rustic surrounds that the farm had to offer including some great wooded areas and manicured gardens.

Then it was off to the party at The Merricks General Store whereby their guests enjoyed a three course meal followed by some hilarious speeches until it was time to hit the dancefloor.

With the DJ spinning some popular tracks from the 80’s and 90’s everyone enjoyed having a boogie and even the kids joined in. By the end of the night i am sure that everyone had had a great time.

Real Wedding – Check Out This Funny Reception Wedding Video We did – Kelly & Ash

By Photography, Real Wedding, Videographer No Comments

We were contacted by Kelly who had this wonderful idea of doing a pre-reception video inspired by some of the video’s she had seen on Youtube.

Although i hadn’t done anything like this before for a wedding a couple and i had concerns over some of their idea’s. I had done similar things in film school which led me to believe that this is something that i could do and it would be fun.

After hearing her and Ash’s idea’s I decided to get behind it and produce a short film that would be played at the reception for laughs as their guests waited for them to make their grand entrance.

So, I got to work writing the script and after a few changes we finally had something to work with. Shot over 3 weekends and edited as quickly as i could, this is the final product.

Real Wedding – Mark & Zoe

By Real Wedding, Videographer No Comments

Zoe and Mark first contacted Jiva Workshop to capture the young sweet hearts nuptials so they can remember their day when they were young

and in love and had the world at their feet.

After some consideration they opted to go with the Gold package to capture more of the important elements of the day without eating to far into their budget.

The ceremony was beautiful and took place down overlooking the beach at Mt Eliza and the elements of the day worked so well against the backdrop of a sunset on the beach.

Upon viewing the finished DVD, Mark and Zoe were amazed at the video and were so thankful that i was able to capture more than what they were hoping for.

“I wasn’t sure about this whole video thing, however after seeing it and remembering back on the day you’ve given us so much more than just a DVD. You’ve given us a memory that can be passed on to generations to come” – Mark.

I’m so glad i was able to help you and Zoe and i’m glad it will be an everlasting memoir of one of the happiest days of your life

Congratulations Mark and Thankyou.

Real Wedding – Aaron & Belinda

By Real Wedding, Videographer No Comments

Aaron and Belinda approached Jiva Workshop to capture their special day from a recommendation from a friend

Their wedding plans were a while in the making as they had hired Mauro from Dezine to capture the photography of their day

and wanted a dvd that could capture the special moments that they had spent months planning.

Aaron and Belinda looked amazing on the day, with a full Catholic service at a beautiful Catholic church in the city of Melbourne

With the ceremony done and dusted we ventured into many locations including a rustic italian setting outside a cafe, Port Melbourne beach pier as well as a quick stop on the way to the reception at a winery.

The reception was extravagant as the the rest of the day had been with platters of seafood and tapas

Aaron and Belinda were wonderful to work for and loved displaying their obvious affection for each other.

Upon delivery of the dvd the couple were surprised by the results

Aaron

“I can’t believe how good the dvd turned out, you’ve done an amazing job and you’ve give us something that is worth more than the cost”

As always it’s always great to hear such praises of your work.

Thanks Aaron & Belinda.

What You Need to Know about Wedding Video Production

By Videographer, Wedding Blog No Comments

For a lot of couples, their wedding day is probably one of the most momentous occasions they’ll ever experience. This type of celebration happens only once, which is why documenting this important day is very important. While it is true that your wedding will always be in your memories, having a video and photographic documentation of the event will still give you something more tangible to look back on. It will serve as your reminder of how precious your wedding day was.

In the beginning

Typically, looking for a good company for your wedding video production should be accomplished during the second quarter of the wedding planning stage. It is important to be hands on during the whole process. It can be quite tedious but looking in business directories can be a good way to start. Asking among your married friends can also be helpful as they might be able to recommend a good video company to cover the wedding. If both of you have the time. You can also try visiting wedding expos because it can be a great venue for video production companies to exhibit their work. Searching on the Internet may also work as there are many production companies who also run their own websites so that they can easily be reached.

Comparing options

When deciding which company to hire for your wedding video production, it is important to remember a few things. First, you really have to be personally present when looking for a video company. Visiting the studio is essential so that you can look at their sample works and personally compare them with your other options. Settling for the first company that you find is not a good idea as there may still be a company out there that can offer better deals and services. Plus, by going to the videographers personally, you can talk about many of the details concerning your wedding photos and videos.

When looking at the wedding video production samples, it is advisable that you take note of a few things. The most important is of course the quality of the samples. Take the time to observe and watch their sample videos and take note of the audio and video quality. Check the chiaroscuro or the color of the images and make sure that they are vivid and bright. The colors should not be bland as it makes the event look dull. The sounds should be audible and the background music that was used should be appropriate for each event. If possible, take a person who knows about these kinds of things with you so that you can properly assess the video quality.

Sometimes, wedding video production companies take cinematography for granted. Most of their films look like slightly improved home videos rather than a professionally done video.  When looking for a good company to hire, make sure that their work is cinematic and creative enough. Take note of the editing, the continuity of the shots, as well as the cuts and transitions that were used. The angle of the shots is also essential in order to spice up the wedding video as well as provide more variations to the photos.

Real Wedding – Matt & Courtney – Sorrento

By Photography, Real Wedding, Videographer No Comments

Matt and Courtney approached Jiva Workshop from after hearing about us through their dj – DJ Pete

Courtney and Matt wanted to capture their special day out of concern that allot of family and friends were interstate and some would not be able to make the event.

So it was incredibly important for Courtney to have a video of the day that they could then show to friends and family that were away and have it done properly.

Matt and Courtney decided on a Beach wedding down at Sorento foreshore where the couple had spent so many happy times together in the past.

The ceremony was beautiful set behind the backdrop of the beach and Port Phillip Bay where we got to find out many funny stories of how the couple fell in love.

With Sally Marks behind the camera as Photographer we then set out to make the most of some of the best Backdrops in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, in and around Sorento

The Reception was held at “The Baths at Sorrento” a cozy little reception centre that is right on the foreshore beach

With DJ Pete behind the helm of the turnatables, the guests enjoyed the rest of the night dancing away.

After viewing the dvd Matt rang me personally to tell me how extremely wrapped they were with the dvd and explained that he was sceptical at first about getting a dvd but was so very glad that they did it

Courtney further wrote to me and explained

“Thankyou so much for doing such a fantastic job on our wedding dvd – we are wrapped!
If you need to give my number out to any perspective people thinking about using you – please feel free to do so!”

and

“Once again, thanks for a wonderful job.  Looking back, I cant even remember you being there filming all you did – you were so discreet!  It was such a touching moment when we first watched the dvd together and all the precious moments we felt on the day all came flooding back again – only a video can capture that.  And putting all the highlights to our favourite songs, just made it that more special.  Not to forget your special effects – how awesome were they!!”

I  am so very happy that you were pleased with the results and that you thought it was worth it

Thanks again Courtney and Matt
